Nigerian lady, Boluwatife breaks University of Ibadan record, becomes youngest ever speaker
A Nigerian lady, Boluwatife Ikwunne has set a new record in the history books of the University of Ibadan after being lucky to take up a role meant for a select few.
She took to LinkedIn to announce that she was picked as the speaker at the university’s 2021 matriculation, thus making her the youngest ever speaker in the institution’s history.
The elated Rhodes scholar-elect described the experience as one she will never forget in her life.
She also expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to her lecture at the university she studied in over 8 years ago.
According to Boluwatife, the Vice Chancellor told her via a phone call that she will be the 2021 matriculation ceremony speaker.
She shared photos depicting how the event panned out. In some, she could be seen receiving an award plaque from the institution.
”When I got a call from the acting Vice Chancellor that I had been nominated to speak at the 2021 matriculation ceremony, to say I was stunned would be an understatement.
“I would be the youngest ever matriculation speaker in the history of the University of Ibadan.
“I knew that this was a huge responsibility, first to ensure that I did justice to the speech, communicating navigation keys to more than four thousand freshmen, and next to ensure that my performance would pave the way for this new tradition of younger generation matriculation speakers,” she wrote.
She received congratulatory messages from LinkedIn users. See some below:
